Job Summary

Centerline is looking for a splice/fiber technician that has the ability to lead and have in depth knowledge of fiver splicing. You are looking for the next step in your career where you can mentor and train your own team of fiber technicians. The ideal candidate will provide overall technicial management and growth of the fiber optic technicial services team in Maine. The role will encompass mentoring and development of all fiber optic technical personnel as well as manage & monitor fiber sub-contractors.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

  • Provide development and field supervision of the area fiber optic technical services team. To include personal production as well as training, monitoring, mentoring of area splice/test field personnel.
  • Maintain a strong field presence and product delivery focus.
  • Work with area management and personnel to meet specific customer needs and ensure proper resources are allocated to meet time and budget requirements. Includes specific supervision of:
    • Fiber splicing and testing crews scheduling.
    • Crews preparedness (trucks, tools and materials night before)
    • Establish action to deal with delays due to weather emergencies or logistics. Confer with PM, on site personnel, contractors and customer to resolve quality concerns, complaints or time line challenges.
    • Individual production
    • Daily progress reporting
    • Documentation and close out packages (within 24 hours of completion)
    • Monitor and maintain quality assurance standards to include field observation and inspection to ensure company and customer standards
    • Monitor and document employee PPE and safe “set up” during site visits.
    • Perform and document regular site “tailboard” meetings.
    • Monitor and promote company technical services training and development.
      • Participate in the hiring, on-boarding, discipline and termination of employees as required.
      • Participate with other internal training resources and “Learning Line” (LMS) to ensure the most efficient and effective employee advancement.
      • Provide “hands on” role in company mentorship program.
      • Review, reward and record within an “employee technician level” structure.
      • Monitor, assign and promote care and maintenance of fiber optic tools and test equipment.

Qualifications

What You Will Need

  • Experience supervising and managing sub-contractors
  • Show up for work daily and on time
  • Must possess the ability to perceive difference in colors.
  • Experienced with basic computer functions, especially Excel and the Internet and have the ability to learn new programs
  • Ability to make independent judgment and perform repetitive tasks
  • Regular contact with co-workers and customers
  • Within 90 days of start date, take and pass OSHA-10 Certification, and be able to complete the entry level safety training and demonstrate safe practices.
  • Must possess and continue to possess a valid driver’s license 
  • Must be able to take and pass, and continue to pass a DOT Physical, drug screen and background check
  • Regional travel may be required.
  • Applicant must be at least a high school graduate or equivalent

Work Environment

  • Repeated and frequent ability to lift, from floor to above head 25 lbs continuously.
  • Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity.
  • Environmental Conditions exposure is heat, cold, dust, wet, vibration and very loud noise.
  • Requires the ability to sit for extended periods, stand, bend, walk, communicate via telephone, computer and/or face-to-face contact, vision to monitor, and use basic office equipment such as a personal computer, copier and fax machines regularly during the course of work.
  • Work is performed in and out of an office environment.
