Job Summary

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for the scheduling, coordinating, daily reporting, and supervising of all onsite building, civil, electrical, mechanical subcontractors, and employees assigned to the projects. Work consists of demolishing, installing, altering, and repairing architectural, AC / DC electrical systems, and equipment associated with CI construction projects, primarily inside the plant or on-site. This can range from basic repairs to building additions and new greenfield construction.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

  • Provide overall administration and technical management of the onsite project team.
  • Responsible for overseeing the installation and construction of all elements inside and outside the data center or hub space on the customer’s site. This does not involve outside plant construction between buildings.
  • Provide planning, recommendations, and work guidance in support of productivity, for the entire construction project.
  • Physically assist in work as needed and performing any project punch out not covered by other employees or subcontractors.
  • Responsible for supervising the activities of the CI construction team with responsibility for some financial and/or operational results including planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling the activities of the onsite team. Ensuring the project(s) stays on or under budget.
  • Daily reporting as required to the project management team and client
  • Translate individual operational goals into team goals.
  • Provide technical advice and subject matter expertise across multiple construction disciplines for assigned projects.
  • Ensure customer and Centerline standards are enforced.
  • Contribute to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards.
  • Regularly interact with the project management team on planning, progress, moves, adds, changes, change orders, outstanding problems, and incident reporting.
  • Ensure Centerline safety, company standards, and policies are met by team members in the daily performance of tasks.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team of technicians while driving change to meet Centerline’s strategic business goals.
  • Responsible for the oversight of all day-to-day functions of the team including work map design review, quality performance, and time reporting.
  • Provide technical assistance and communicate technical information and status to the project management team.
  • Coach and develop a team to have a sense of urgency in providing on-time performance as well as quality products for Centerline’s customers.
  • Supervisory level responsibility for the schedule and quality control of any given project
  • Act as an advisor and or expert to subordinates for elevated issues and problems.
  • Identify appropriate resources needed and work with the department manager to develop plan schedules.
  • Act as a team lead within the department and delegates work to team members.
  • Work with the department manager throughout the hiring process for new hires as well as help with the retention of current team members.

Qualifications

What You Will Need

  • Five years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, specifically Outlook & Excel required.
  • Previous experience with PROCORE preferred.
  • Established recent work history as an Electrical Superintendent on commercial electrical construction projects.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification needed. Either currently has the certification or can attend class after employment to get certification within 6 months.
  • Forklift, heavy equipment, lull rigging and operations certification or extensive experience preferred.
  • Time management and keen organization skills required.
  • Previous experience managing direct reports and/or indirect reports required.
  • Previous experience in commercial electrical construction preferred.
  • Previous experience with HVAC systems preferred.
  • Previous experience with site and civil work preferred.
  • Previous experience with commercial building construction preferred.
  • Data Center, cell site, internet hub, cable TV, backup power or similar experience preferred.
  • Basic hand tools are required.

Physical Demands

Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity. Drive and operate a vehicle, and/or bucket. Environmental conditions: exposure to heat, cold, dust, wet, vibration, and very loud noises. Requires the ability to sit for extended periods, stand, bend, walk, communicate via telephone, computer and/or face-to-face contact, vision to monitor, and use basic office equipment such as a personal computer, copier, and fax machines regularly during work. Work is performed in and out of an office environment.  Need to be able to lift 75lbs to load and unload material.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has supervisory responsibilities.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time exempt position.
  • Days of work are Monday through Friday.
  • Some evenings may be required.

Travel

  • Travel exceeding 75%+
  • Travel to other markets as needed (within the eastern and central time zones of the United States.)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company insurance policy.
  • Be willing and able to fly on commercial airlines to projects as needed.
  • Must qualify to rent vehicles and equipment from rental companies (i.e. over the age of 25, no record of being bared by rental companies for being the primary driver)
  • Note Maicom travel policy for per diem and travel allowances. The company uses a travel agent to pre-pay for all approved hotel, airfare, and rental costs.
