Job Summary

Reporting to the Underground Foreman or Supervisor, you will carry out general labor tasks in the telecom underground construction sector. This role is located in Fairfield, Maine, with work assignments spanning the Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire regions.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

  • Familiar with, and understand the use of underground utility construction tools; use of jackhammers/chipping guns, compactors, shovels, and other hand tools
  • If qualified, drive to and from job sites throughout New England as well as perform general construction labor at the job site including loading, digging, and placing underground cabling that would vary in size, shape, and weight.
  • Conscientious regarding the safety of him/herself at times as well as the safety of every other crew member or individual on the job site
  • Ability to make independent judgment and perform repetitive tasks
  • Regular contact with co-workers and customers; work as part of a team environment
  • Travel throughout the region with the Underground Crew, learning on the job

Qualifications

What You Will Need

  • Previous underground utility or communications construction experience a plus
  • Show up for work daily and on time and ability to follow directions
  • Handle physical demands of construction duties
  • Must possess and continue to possess a valid driver's license and pass random driver's license screenings
  • Ability to make independent judgment and perform repetitive tasks
  • Regular contact with co-workers and customers
  • Within 90 days of start date, company supplied safety training and certifications
  • Local travel and overtime is available every week
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Active Class A CDL desired but not required
  • Hydraulics IC/2B Hoisting license a plus, but not required

Work Environment

  • Repeated and frequent ability to lift, from floor to above head 40 lbs continuously
  • Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity. Environmental Conditions exposure is heat, cold, dust, wet, vibration and very loud noise
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
