Responsibilities

Job Description:

 

The Senior Civil – Structural Engineer is required to work within a multi-discipline team to develop efficient and reliable design. The incumbent will coordinate his design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion. The incumbent will facilitate mentoring and development of junior team members with their engineering skillset, problem solving and decision making. The incumbent will also assist in preparation of estimates and project proposals.

 

Here is a glimpse of your daily duties:

  • Provide structural consulting and engineering services to clients.
  • Define the needs and work on conception of structural equipment and perform conceptual preliminary designs.
  • Perform engineering calculations and assessments for structures composed of various materials including; Steel, Concrete, Masonry, and Wood.
  • Design and/or assessment of lattice towers, steel, wood, and polymer poles adhering to CSA-S37-18, National Building Code and any other relevant regional codes.
  • Direct CAD team for drawing preparation and review deliverables prior to submitting to client.
  • Stamp construction / permit application drawings along with any forms required to obtain building permits for construction.
  • Ensure updated compliance of internal and external designs with any regulations including applicable QA procedures, technical knowledge good design practice and constructability.
  • Participate in project management by supervising and coordinating the work with the internal engineering team, the client, technicians and designers assigned to the projects.
  • Interface with various engineering disciplines, suppliers, and other functional divisions of the company.
  • Resolve technical issues and provide technical support and guidance to engineering stakeholders at site and staff when required.
  • Manage engineering files and documents such as project documentation with respect to engineering studies and calculations, all design packages, as-built requirements.
  • Prepare, review and /or update Civil engineering design documents including, Design Description, Civil /Structural Drawings, BOMs together with the supporting analysis.
  • Attend site visits related to gather pre-design information, to ensure quality, timeline and budget accuracy.
  • Carry out structural audits, evaluate the condition of existing structures and assess requirements for modification, repair and/or rehabilitation.
  • Carry out/review/analyze and write project scope and technical studies.
  • Maintain good working relationship with internal groups that support the project such as other Engineering disciplines, Drafting, Procurement, Construction and Project Management etc.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to developing engineers within the department and review their work.
  • Keep detailed records of all work including design calculations and models.

Qualifications

Here is a summary of the requirements for this position:

  • 10 - 15 years of working experience in civil/structural engineering including steel and concrete design.
  • A Professional Engineer with an active Professional Engineer License (P.Eng.) granted by the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) and with good standings.
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Civil/structural Engineering from a recognized institution
  • Must have experience in design and assessment of structural concrete, masonry, wood and steel.
  • Extensive working knowledge of CSA-S37-18, CISC, NBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE and IBC standards and codes.
  • Proficient with Staad.pro, SAP2000, MathCAD, AutoCAD, Revit, Robot or equivalent programs.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook; PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Fluent in English language with excellent leadership, communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrate initiative, team spirit organizational skills and independence.

Job Type: Full-time

 

Salary: $100,000.00-$120,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree (required)

Experience:

  • Civil and Structural Engineering: 10 years (required)
  • Telecommunication: 5 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Professional Engineer License (P.Eng.) (required)
  • P.Eng granted by Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) (required)

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Mississauga, ON
