Job Summary

Centerline Communications LLC has an Apprentice Fiber Technician opening out of our Hudson, NH office.  We are looking for a highly motivated and hardworking individual to join a fast-growing company specializing in wireless communications across the country. The Fiber Technician is responsible for the installation of Copper/Fiber Optic, and Network Cabling, at the job sites along the North East markets.  The selected individual will work with an existing team of managers and various team members to coordinate responsibilities and optimize results for the region.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

  • Install network cabling and fiber systems
  • Install inner-duct/conduit, use J-hooks and other installation hardware.
  • Install rack and cabinet-based electronics and associated components.
  • Install cable management, grounding, DC power cabling to support network systems. Responsible for job specific paperwork and documentation; turn in all safety reports and closeout documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Splicing Fiber for iDAS/oDAS/WiFi/Cell Backhaul/FTTx Networks
  • Testing Fiber in accordance with the Customers Specifications
  • Troubleshooting New and Existing Fiber Networks

Qualifications

What You Will Need

  • High School Diploma
  • Knowledge and use of tools of the trade, may include; daily ladder work, bucket truck, inner-duct & conduit installation.
  • Strong computer and electronics skills.
  • Electrical, RF, and Network experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with Fiber Equipment (Fusion Splicing, Enclosure Prep).
  • Familiarity with Test Gear (OTDR, Ethernet Certification, Light Meter, etc.).
  • Ability to load configuration scripts, test and turn-up equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to work reliably under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and carry out written and verbal instructions.
  • Observe all company procedures and safety rules.
  • Work as part of our team to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions; including but not limited to snow, rain and varying temperatures.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, bend, climb or balance, talk or hear.  Occasionally the work requires the employee to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  Frequently the employee is required to lift or carry up to 10 or 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 50lbs.  Able to climb to and work at standard heights of 12-24’ either on ladders or scissor lifts. The employee needs to have good vision for close work, distance, color discrimination, peripheral, and depth perception.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time non-exempt position. Days of work are Monday through Friday with some irregular hours. Weekends and evenings are required at times.

 

Travel

Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company insurance policy. This position is based in Hudson NH but requires local New England travel. Overnights (which would include per diem) can be expected a handful of times per year
