Job Summary

The Tower Technician Apprentice works with the crew on site to complete tower inspections and mappings of telecommunication structures. The individual must be able to travel and lead a crew for travel to these sites, complete the inspection, and facilitate the completion of the reports. The field engineer will provide individual job level support to ensure the jobs are completed in a smooth and timely fashion. The tasks will include planning of the inspections, coordinating of schedules within the inspection crew and project manager, and timely upload of the notes and completed reports.The individual should have several key characteristics. They must have the ability to quickly learn new tasks and retain this new knowledge.The ability to multitask and manage your own schedule and complete tasks on time is essential. This person must also be able to exercise adaptability to new and unfamiliar situations.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

  • Completing tower inspections and mappings, including tower mappings, foundation mappings, mount mappings, TIA inspections, and pre and post modification mappings.
  • Observe possible compound/ tower/ equipment defects or hazards that would require additional maintenance.
  • Visually analyze tower integrity and provide accurate measurements of tower members.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and project managers.
  • Complete all tasks accurately, on time, and support the rest of the team as needed.
  • Maintain close contact with project managers to update them on important dates, field issues, and report submittal.
  • Review all required documentation prior to site visit and report completion.
  • Ensure that all project information is accurately filed on the server, including correspondence, photos, and reports.
  • Maintaining contact with project manager, other crews, and the client as needed to successfully complete the work.
  • Communicating issues with potential solutions to the Project Manager for review in a timely manner.
  • Helping assist and train new field technicians.
  • Manage inventory of material and equipment for each assigned project
  • Work as a team to function as part of a 3-4-man crew.
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

What You Will Need

  • Should not be afraid of heights and will be required to climb to a height of at least 300 feet.
  • 6 months of climbing & inspections experience 
  • Microsoft Word and Excel Experience (Required)
  • Ability to travel extensively (including overnight) both locally and nationwide.Potentially 80% travel•Wireless Industry or Engineering Inspection Experience: 6 months(Required)
  • Ability to lift up to a maximum of 50 pounds.
  • Valid and active driver's license that is insurable according to the standards of the company.
  • Excellent physical conditioning and stamina.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions; including but not limited to snow, rain and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and carry out written and verbal instructions.
  • Observe all company procedures and safety rules.
  • Work as part of our team to ensure customer satisfaction.

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, talk or hear.
  • Occasionally the work requires the employee to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Frequently the employee is required to lift or carry up to 10 or 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 or 100 lbs.
  • Able to climb to and work at heights exceeding 300’. The employee needs to have good vision for close work, distance, color discrimination, peripheral, and depth perception.
  • Be willing to travel up to 100 miles per day with a Foreman.

Expected compensation includes $18 to $22 an hour and benefits including medical, vision, and dental benefits, and 401k retirement plan available for eligible employees. Compensation offered may vary depending on factors such as an individual’s education, training, experience, skills, geographic location, seniority, merit, and other factors that are job related and consistent with business need.
