Penta is a growing telecommunications contractor, providing complete turn-key engineering, and project management services for any network communications construction project. We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Roadway Safety Flagger to join our team. The flagger will be responsible for directing traffic through construction zones, ensuring the safety of workers, motorists, and pedestrians. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to stand for extended periods in various weather conditions. The role will be based in the Scranton PA area and surrounding areas in eastern PA.

What Will You Do

  • Direct and control the flow of traffic around work zones using hand signals and traffic control devices.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, pedestrians, and work crews to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Set up and maintain traffic control signs, cones, and barricades as per safety regulations.
  • Monitor traffic conditions and adjust flagging operations as necessary.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines established by local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Report any incidents, hazards, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain proper safety gear, including high-visibility clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.

What You Will Need

  • Valid flagger certification (or willingness to obtain certification).
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Strong communication and situational awareness skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in traffic control, construction, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of traffic control procedures and safety regulations.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and remain calm under pressure.

Physical Demands:

  • Environmental Conditions exposure is heat, cold, dust, wet, vibration and very loud noise.
  • Requires the ability to stand, walk, and holding a sign for extended periods.
  • Work is performed out of an office environment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time non-exempt position and expected hours are 7:00a-5:00p.

Travel:

  • Travel to job sites in the Scranton PA area and surrounding areas in Eastern PA
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company insurance policy.

Expected compensation includes $18 to $22 an hour and benefits including medical, vision, and dental benefits, and 401k retirement plan available for eligible employees. Compensation offered may vary depending on factors such as an individual’s education, training, experience, skills, geographic location, seniority, merit, and other factors that are job related and consistent with business need.
